In recent years, Methoni, one of the most picturesque and historical seaside settlements in Greece, has seen a gentle but noticeable development with new homes or renovations of old homes, new or renovated shops and upgrades of public areas, always under the control and the strict rules of the Greek Archaeological Authorities. As a result, this small town has preserved its character with many examples of pure and genuine traditional architecture, close to the magnificent and impressive Venetian Castle. One such example is this old traditional house available for sale. A house steeped in history, when local people built small-scale houses to cover their basic needs, using natural materials (stones, wood, etc.) and following the simple aesthetics of the area. The house is connected to the main sewer and it is equipped with Buderus boiler, oil tank and radiators for central heating and solar panels for hot water. All the water to the house is softened except the cold supply to the kitchen sink. Also, the house is connected to the main electricity line. Internet connection is available as well.

The outside area is separated in three (3) level areas connected to each other by steps.

The first level gets access via a sliding entrance gate and accommodates the shaded parking place and the renewed wooden structure of the pergola which houses the outside eating area.

The second level has a paved terrace, garden beds and a central water feature.

The third level accommodates an impressive old olive tree, a raised garden, a vegetable plot and a pergola with view to the sea. 2 independent watering systems provide unsoftened water for the vegetable plot and the garden.

Methoni, is a small well-preserved traditional town, protected by the Greek Archaeological Service due to the imposing Venetian Castle, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view to the sunset and beneath which lie a beach and a sheltered harbor. There is a beautiful square in the centre of the town and another one in the seaside, where you can find nice restaurants to enjoy fresh fish and other traditional Mediterranean dishes. Methoni has also supermarkets, pharmacy, dentist and a public infirmary.

Finikounda, 9 minutes by car, a coastal village, which has developed into one of the most beautiful summer resorts of the southern Peloponnese, is surrounded by long sandy beaches with crystal clear waters, where you can enjoy water sports as well. The village has a very pretty harbour for traditional fishing boats and recreational boats. There are also beachfront cafeterias, several traditional restaurants, where you can enjoy, among other, fresh fish and delicious dishes of the Messinian kitchen. Additionally, in Finikounda you can find supermarkets, many tourist shops and pharmacy.

Pylos, a 13-minute drive away, is the main town of the area, with one of the biggest natural ports in Europe and a small marina. Being amphitheatrically built and very picturesque makes it one of the most beautiful towns in Greece.

It has a lovely central square, shaded by ancient platanus trees, where you can find a good range of shops and nice cafeterias.  There are also supermarkets, traditional restaurants, pharmacies, a satisfying range of doctors and a small medical center with good facilities and reliable staff who provide prompt emergency service for mild cases.

The area of Pylos has four impressive signature golf courses and the nearest one is 20 minutes away from the property.

In Koroni, 30 minutes by car, you can find a wide variety of restaurants and bars which front the attractive harbour side overlooked by the ruins of the original Venetian castle. There are two banks, post office, hairdresser, dentist, doctors, and a wide range of shops for everyday needs. There is also a vegetable and bric-a-brac market on Sunday mornings.

It takes 60 minutes to drive to the International airport and 65 minutes to the modern hospital of Kalamata which is the administrative capital of the area. Kalamata has a port, large yachting marina and motorway access to ATHENS. The centre of town has been the subject of major regeneration during the past few years and offers a wide range of shopping, eating and relaxing opportunities along its main boulevard. There is a greater variety of shops here offering designer goods and some internationally known stores.
