There is a beautiful square in the centre of the town and another one in the seaside, where you can find nice restaurants to enjoy fresh fish and other traditional Mediterranean dishes. Methoni has also supermarkets, pharmacy, dentist and a public infirmary.
Finikounda, 15 minutes by car, a coastal village, which has developed into one of the most beautiful summer resorts of the southern Peloponnese, is surrounded by long sandy beaches with crystal clear waters, where you can enjoy water sports as well. The village has a very pretty harbour for traditional fishing boats and recreational boats. There are also beachfront cafeterias, several traditional restaurants, where you can enjoy, among other, fresh fish and delicious dishes of the Messinian kitchen. Additionally, in Finikounda you can find supermarkets, many tourist shops and pharmacy.
It takes 50 minutes to drive to the international airport and 55 minutes to the modern hospital of Kalamata which is the administrative capital of the area. Kalamata has a port, large yachting marina and motorway access to ATHENS. The centre of town has been the subject of major regeneration during the past few years and offers a wide range of shopping, eating and relaxing opportunities along its main boulevard. There is a greater variety of shops here offering designer goods and some internationally known stores.
